Breeding
Breeding at Bernoski Dressage is approached with the same care and long-term vision as our training and sport. Our focus is on producing dressage horses with the ability to perform at the highest level, while remaining rideable, sound and mentally balanced.
Our breeding program is built on proven bloodlines, practical experience in international Grand Prix sport and a clear understanding of what is required for long-term success in modern dressage.

Breeding Philosophy
We believe that good breeding starts with correct foundations. Selection is based not only on pedigree, but equally on character, rideability and functional movement.
Daily involvement in training and competition plays an important role in our breeding decisions. It allows us to evaluate horses under saddle and to make informed choices based on how horses actually develop in practice, rather than on paper alone.
Breeding, training and sport are closely connected within our operation, creating a consistent and realistic approach to producing dressage horses for the future.
Bloodlines & Background
Our breeding program is rooted in strong Dutch bloodlines, with a clear preference for the KWPN breeding system.
A key foundation mare within our program is the international Grand Prix mare Jamaica (Vivaldi x Ferro). Jamaica has competed successfully at international Grand Prix level and combines proven sport performance with a pedigree known for strength, rideability and mental reliability.
On the dam line, Jamaica descends from the mare So What (Ferro x Purioso) who is a full sister to Mythilus, the horse ridden by Courtney King-Dye at the Olympic Games in 2008 (Hong Kong, China). This dam line reflects a consistent ability to perform at the very highest level of the sport, while maintaining the qualities needed for long-term development.
The influence of this line forms an important foundation within our breeding program and continues to guide our breeding decisions today.
Spectre (Hermès x Vivaldi)
Spectre is a KWPN-approved stallion by the international Grand Prix stallion Hermès, one of the standout dressage horses at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. From both the sire and dam line, Spectre carries proven Grand Prix genetics, combining top-level sport performance with rideability and strength.
On the dam side, Spectre descends from the international Grand Prix mare Jamaica (Vivaldi x Ferro), whose pedigree reflects consistent Grand Prix performance at the highest level. This combination of bloodlines forms the foundation of our confidence in Spectre’s long-term potential as both a sport horse and a breeding stallion.
Spectre is a modern stallion with size and a refined, luxurious appearance. He shows natural ability for collection, moves with presence and expression, and stands out for his balance and elasticity. Under saddle, his willingness to work and ease of ride are immediately apparent.
Equally important is his character, which is consistently praised both in daily handling and in training. Spectre combines sensitivity with reliability, making him a pleasant horse to work with and a promising influence for rideability in breeding.
A Focused Program
Our breeding activities are deliberately limited in scale. This allows us to follow each foal closely from an early stage and to maintain a clear overview of development, training and future placement.
By keeping breeding, training and sport closely aligned, we aim to produce horses that are not only bred to move, but bred to perform and develop sustainably at the highest level.
